Glamour and elegance take centre stage as iconic store welcomes festive season
Over the years, ODEL has become one of Colombo’s most anticipated Christmas landmarks. For 2012, the nation’s favourite department store is taking its famed festive makeover to new levels of glamour and excitement.
This year’s theme is “Let it Shine,” and the new decor brings it to life with enchanting elegance and sparkling detail. The flagship store at Alexandra Place has been transformed into a yuletide wonderland. The windows of the grand old mansion are flecked with glittering stars, the walls accented in gleaming gold, and the halls decked with magical little chandeliers that will delight those who take a closer look. Amidst all this fabulousness, the familiar symbols of the season – the trees, the baubles, and the reindeer – are all joyously present and have never looked better.
“All of us on the ODEL team are passionate about our Christmas makeover,” says Otara Gunewardene, ODEL’s founder and CEO. “We want to give all our customers a different experience every year , offering our customers a unique range of products in our stores.
ODEL’s 2012 Christmas makeover was launched on 12th November, with a chic fashion show at the Alexandra Place store’s car park, where models were attired in the latest trends. Luxe, studs, gold, black and animal prints, the highlights of this season, were all visible on the catwalk. The main sponsor for the fashion show was HSBC and was co-sponsored by Coca Cola light.
The decor is only part of the ODEL Christmas story. The stores will be stocked with the current trends for women and men as well as glamorous accessories all brought in especially for the Xmas season.
Gift-shoppers are especially well catered for this year. ODEL will put together beautifully presented bespoke hampers from a selection of confectionaries and gourmet offers that customers can choose from. For the ultimate in convenience for both the giver and the recipient, pre-loaded gift cards are available in Rs.5,000, Rs.10,000 and Rs.15,000 denominations. Specially designed cupcakes exclusively packed will make perfect gifts for friends or family or are an ideal gift to take when visiting over the holiday season.
Extra parking will be available with a free shuttle service from the Town Hall car park to ODEL and vice versa, free drop off within city limits for customers who spend Rs.35,000 or more, and a dedicated cab service are some of the other services that will be on offer to make shopping more convenient.
