The website of Sri Lanka’s premier fashion and lifestyle brand Odel, and the personal website of its founder and CEO Otara Gunewardene won accolades at the 2010 ‘Best Web’ Awards conducted by the LK Domain Registry Office. www.odel.lk was adjudged ‘Best e-Commerce’ site in Sri Lanka for the second consecutive year, while www.otara.lk won the ‘Best Personal Website’ award for the first time. The Odel website has also been listed among the top 20 websites in Sri Lanka by the LK Domain Registry Office. “These awards reflect our continuous effort to maintain the highest standards in all aspects of our interaction with customers,” said Otara Gunewardene. “Selling online involves more than just creating an online shop. We recognise and cater to customer requirements and have made the website as user friendly as possible.” The award-winning Odel website is being revamped to take online shopping even closer to the regular shopping experience, she added. In 2009, the Odel site won awards for ‘Best Website Design and Content’ and ‘Best e-Commerce Website,’ and was also among the top 5 in the ‘Most Favourite Sri Lankan Website’ competition judged on popular vote. The Odel chain now comprises of stores at Alexandra Place, Maharagama, Kohuwala, Mount Lavinia, Moratuwa, Panadura, Nugegoda (Warehouse), Dickman’s Road, Ja-ela, Majestic City, Crescat (Backstage), Battaramulla and at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
