Otara was chief guest at opening ceremony of the Donkey Clinic and Education Center in Mannar. The initiative is the brainchild of Jeremy Liyanage of Bridge Lanka, whose vision is to help donkeys who are often seen suffering on the streets of Mannar. These animals are commonly treated for road traffic accidents and other forms of injury and cruelty. Most of the donkeys once had owners, but were abandoned when communities left the area due to the war.
