A press conference was conducted on the 3rd of January 2017, to raise awareness about the illegal destruction of forests around the Wilpattu Forest Reserve. Otara, together with the ‘Protect Sri Lanka’ movement brought to light the situation and appealed to the authorities to end any illegal destruction and the importance of protecting the last remaining forests for the benefit of all citizens and animals of Sri Lanka
